Russian Forces Strike Ukrainian Training Ground
On March 1, Russian forces hit a Ukrainian military training ground in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. This was during a formation exercise, according to Mykhailo Drapatyi, Commander of the Ground Forces of Ukraine.
The strike was allegedly carried out after an enemy drone spotted a group of soldiers about 100 kilometers from the front line. The exact number of Ukrainian soldiers killed and injured is unknown.
Drapatyi promised to investigate the circumstances of the attack and hold those responsible accountable. He said that new safety standards are needed to prevent such tragedies in the future.
This incident is not the first time Russian forces have attacked Ukrainian troops while they were gathering in the rear. On November 3, 2023, a group of soldiers was hit by a Russian missile strike in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, resulting in the deaths of 19 soldiers and two civilians.
Drapatyi’s statement on March 3:
“A tragedy at a training ground is a terrible consequence of an enemy strike. The war requires quick decisions, responsibility, and new safety standards; otherwise, we will lose more than we have.”
