On the morning of the 6th November, multiple explosions were reported in Kaspiysk, a city in Russia’s Dagestan. Drones were reportedly targeting the main base of the Russian Caspian Flotilla.
Sergei Melikov, the leader of Dagestan, confirmed that a drone was attacked. He said that air defense forces had “shot down one over Kaspiysk,” but he did not provide any details on potential damage.
The Caspian Flotilla, a Russian naval force operating in the Caspian Sea, is a Russian unit. The flotilla launched Kalibr cruise-missiles from its warship while its 177th Marine regiment participated in combat operations in Kherson Oblast and Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The flotilla, based in Kaspiysk (Dagestan), operates a variety of vessels, including patrol boats and missile ships.
According to Russian media reports, the incident caused disruptions in Makhachkala Airport, with three flights being delayed.
The Telegram channel Baza claims that the attack was carried by a ultra-light Ukrainian A-22 Flying Fox aircraft.
Astra reports that NASA fire monitoring system detected no fires within the base area after the attack. The base houses coastal troops including marine units.
