**New Ukrainian School Helps Children Keep Their Culture**
A new school in Northampton has been a huge success. It helps children from Ukraine keep their culture and language alive. The Saturday school is for kids who came to the UK with their families under the Homes for Ukraine scheme.
The school was set up by Ukrainian parents who wanted to give their children a place where they could learn about their heritage, speak their mother tongue, and make friends with others who share their culture. Now, 40 children are attending the school, along with four staff members.
**Keeping Culture Alive**
One of the teachers, Ruslana Babee, said that opening the school was a great day. She and her fellow Ukrainian, Natalia Sabolik, had been looking for a place to hold the weekend school after getting funding from The Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain.
Ms Babee explained that it’s essential for children to keep their national identity. “It is important that we save our national identity,” she said. Yullia Kovalets, another organiser, agreed, saying that the school teaches everything about Ukrainian heritage, culture, and traditions.
**Learning Together**
The children at the school come from different parts of Ukraine. Some only speak English, but at the school, they can practice speaking their mother tongue with friends who share their language. Ms Kovalets said it’s amazing to work with parents and children from different backgrounds.
