**Journalists from Around the World Support Georgian Media**
A group of editors and journalists have shown their support for their colleagues in Georgia. The International Press Institute (IPI) and a network of independent media organizations made a joint statement.
The statement says that state security forces and private individuals are attacking journalists in Georgia. This is happening because of protests against the government’s decision to stop EU membership talks until 2028.
**Dangerous Situation for Journalists**
Journalists are facing physical attacks, verbal abuse, threats, and detention. Some have had their equipment taken or destroyed, and their work has been stopped. Government officials have also made public statements that are meant to discredit independent media outlets.
According to local organizations, at least 90 journalists have faced problems since the protests started on November 28. Many of them represent independent news sources in Tbilisi, the capital city.
**Worrying Trend**
The situation for journalists in Georgia is getting worse. The government has been using laws and institutions to silence critics and limit press freedom. This trend was already happening before the recent protests.
**Solidarity with Georgian Journalists**
78 top editors and journalists have signed the joint statement. They are showing their support for the brave journalists who continue to report on the situation in Georgia despite the danger.
