The Executive of Transparency International Georgia, Eka Gigauri, is calling the Prosecutor’s Office to intervene in cases involving individuals arrested during protests. She believes that there is no evidence to justify their imprisonment.

Gigauri claims that judges who imposed pretrial detention on these individuals are biased and acting in favor of the ruling . She has named several judges who she says are carrying out the instructions of the Prosecutor’s Office.

Transparency International Georgia is demanding that the Prosecutor’s Office change the pretrial detention of these individuals to a different preventive measure. They claim that have been subjected to inhuman treatment and torture, and have been forced to give specific testimonies under pressure.

The believes that procedural guarantees for searches and seizures are not being met in these cases. As a result, they are asking the Prosecutor’s Office to intervene with a motion to change the pretrial detention of those arrested during protests to a different preventive measure.
