Russia May Offer Nuclear Power Plant for Mars Mission
Russia might propose supplying a small nuclear power plant for tech billionaire Elon Musk’s trip to Mars, said Kirill Dmitriev. He is the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund.
Dmitriev made these comments at an Arctic Forum in Murmansk on March 27. He said Russia could offer advanced technological capabilities, including a small-sized nuclear power plant. This technology could be useful for space exploration.
Russia and the US are talking again after a long break. The talks were started by President Donald Trump to improve ties between the two countries. Despite their differences over Ukraine, they still work together on space projects.
Elon Musk is planning to send humans to Mars soon. He has said that landings could happen as early as 2029, but 2031 is more likely.
