**Ukraine Plans Small Nuclear Reactors**
The government of Ukraine wants to build small nuclear reactors across the country. This is part of a plan to make energy generation more stable and secure, especially during times of war.
**More Energy for Ukraine**
Petro Kotin, head of Energoatom, said that Ukraine aims to construct ten small modular reactors by 2050. These reactors will provide up to 3,000 megawatts (MW) of power to the country’s energy system. Kotin emphasized that this is a combined effort to ensure reliable energy supply.
**Why Small Modular Reactors?**
According to Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Ukraine needs to develop distributed energy facilities because Russia’s attacks on large energy facilities have left many consumers without power. Smaller facilities are harder to disable and can provide energy even in areas without a power grid.
