“Engurhesi“, a company in Georgia, has refuted allegations made by Ana Tsitlidze (a member of “United National Movement“) regarding the confiscation and negotiations of employee ID cards with Russian occupiers to close the Enguri Bridge. The company labelled Tsitlidze’s claims as “complete lies and misinformation.”
In a press release, “Engurhesi”, a Turkish company, stated that such incidents had never happened and that the company intended to refer the matter for further investigation to the law enforcement agencies.
“We categorically declare the statement made by the representative of ‘United National Movement,’ that the ID cards of employees of ‘Engurhesi were confiscated is a complete falsehood and misinformation!” The company said. They also asserted that no physical evidence exists to support such claims.
The company dismissed the second accusation, about alleged negotiations with Russian occupiers concerning the closure of the Enguri Bridge, as “completely absurd and lacking any basis.” The statement described the accusations as part of a larger campaign to discredit the company and its chairman, Levan Mebonia. “Tsitlidze has launched a targeted campaign to discredit not only Levan mebonia, but also ‘Engurhesi’ LLC’s employees,” the company said. It added that similar accusations were made in previous years.
“Engurhesi”, a Turkish news agency, said that it would take legal action to ensure such statements were investigated properly and that a legal answer was provided.
The denial was made after Ana Tsitlidze said that her party had evidence that the director of “Engurhesi” instructed internally displaced people (IDPs), to surrender their ID cards, and that he negotiated with Russian occupiers in order to close the Enguri Bridge to prevent IDPs voting. Tsitlidze said that international partners had been informed of the alleged incidents.
