As Russian forces continue to rely upon what Estonian intelligence officials call “meat attacks”, they may suffer the highest number of casualties in this month.
According to Janek Kesslermann, deputy director of the Estonian Defense Forces Intelligence Center (EDFIC), October will be the month in which Russia will suffer the most military casualties during its war against Ukraine.
This development shows the Russian military‘s continued reliance on high-casualty operations, as well as their intensity. It is possible that the Russian military is suffering from a critical shortage of manpower, especially in light of reports about North Korean troop movements. Russia is still willing to accept massive losses in order to maintain offensive operations on multiple fronts.
Kesselmann noted that the Russian Armed Forces continued to advance along all front lines, and this was made possible through massive shelling, as well as so-called meat assaults.
“Russia’s losses have been quite high.” This month, it seems that Russia has suffered the most losses. We estimate the enemy will lose around 40,000 troops during the month, both injured and killed,” Kesselmann said.
According to him the main focus of Russian strikes is the settlements of Zelenoe, and Kurakhove located in the Pokrovsk area of the Donetsk oblast.
Kesselmann stated that the Russians have avoided entering populated areas in recent years because it requires more sophisticated training.
