As the European Union we respect the choice you, Georgians will make – Ambassador of the European Union in Georgia, Pawel Hisczynski told journalists.
“As European Union, we respect your choice as Georgians.” The European Union makes no decision about political decisions before, during or after the elections. “This is the choice of Georgians”, said Pawel Hisczynski.
According to him the European Union expects that the upcoming elections will be fair and free.
“We have made it clear that we expect free and fair elections in accordance with highest standards. They should be inclusive, transparent, and competitive,” said EU Ambassador to Georgia.
When asked if relations between European and Georgian partners in business have been suspended, Ambassador said that Georgia’s integration to the European Union has been suspended since last June.
“Georgia’s integration into the European Union has been stopped since last June.” The leaders of the European Union made this decision. We have reduced our financial aid to Georgia. Current programs were cut by 120 million dollars. You, the Georgians, must decide what future you want for Georgia. Pawel Herczynski said that Georgia has been moving away from the European Union in the last few months.
The Ambassador stated that he has full confidence in the choice made by the Georgian people.
“I have complete confidence in the choice made by the Georgian people.” We will respect any result of the elections, provided that they are fair and free. We will also work with any democratically-elected government of Georgia.
