EU Supports Georgian Students Despite Funding Freeze
The European Union will not stop educational exchange programs for Georgian students. This was confirmed by the EU press office in Brussels.
Despite suspending funding for initiatives that help the Georgian government, the EU will continue to support young people through programs like Erasmus+. This means that Georgian students can still participate in these programs and travel to Europe for education or work.
The decision comes at a time when some German educational programs with Georgia are being put on hold. The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research decided not to upgrade scientific cooperation with Georgia due to concerns about academic freedom and the country‘s EU membership status.
However, existing German funding for education in Georgia will remain intact. DAAD scholarships for graduates, doctoral students, and postgraduates are also unaffected.
This means that Georgian students can still apply for these programs and get financial support. The EU press office stated that young people are at the forefront of Georgia’s path to joining the European Union, and they will continue to support them through educational exchange programs.
