EU Doesn’t Recognize Abkhazian Elections
The European Union does not accept the way elections were held in Abkhazia. The EU’s press service made this statement to a journalist from InterPressNews in Brussels.
According to international law, Georgia is a country with its own territory and government. The EU supports this idea.
Elections were recently held in Abkhazia, but the EU does not recognize them. This is because the EU does not accept the rules that govern Abkhazia as valid.
The EU will continue to follow its policy of not recognizing Abkhazia’s independence and will engage with the region instead.
