**EU to Supply Ukraine with 2 Million Shells per Year**
The European Union plans to give Ukraine at least 2 million shells every year. This was announced by EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on March 19.
Kallas made this announcement during a press conference in Brussels. The European Commission presented a new plan, called the White Paper, which aims to strengthen European defense and help Ukraine more.
The White Paper has a special section about helping Ukraine. It says that the EU will not only provide shells but also air defense systems, drones, and training for Ukrainian soldiers. This is to make sure they have what they need to defend themselves.
Kallas said that the EU’s new credit tool, called SAFE, will help make this plan a reality. The credit tool has 150 billion euros ($163 billion) to support European defense and Ukraine aid.
“This is an important moment for European security,” Kallas said. “It’s time for action.”
Last year, the EU reached its goal of delivering one million shells to Ukraine. They promised to do this by spring 2024, and they kept their promise.
