**Call for Release of Journalist Mzia Amaghlobeli**
Friends of Georgia are demanding the release of journalist Mzia Amaghlobeli. A joint statement signed by European parliamentarians and other politicians was shared on social media platform X by French Member of the European Parliament, Nathalie Loiseau.
The statement demands the immediate release of 52 journalists and many political prisoners who are currently imprisoned as a result of a terrorist crackdown against democracy, human rights, and Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic future. The crackdown has been ongoing for 69 days and has worsened recently.
**Concerns Over Mzia Amaghlobeli’s Health**
The European parliamentarians hold the Georgian government responsible for the consequences of health damage to Mzia Amaghlobeli. Her hunger strike and unjust imprisonment have entered their fourth week, posing a life-threatening danger. Reports from the “Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association” and others suggest she is not receiving necessary medical care and is being subjected to degrading treatment in captivity.
**Calls for Sanctions on Georgian Leaders**
The politicians call on the European Union to impose sanctions on Bidzina Ivanishvili, Irakli Kobakhidze, Vakhtang Gomelauri, and Sulkhan Tamazashvili. They also demand the urgent restoration of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic path and democracy.
**Signed by Prominent Politicians**
The statement is signed by prominent politicians from across Europe, including Members of the European Parliament, parliamentarians from various countries, and other notable figures such as former Ambassador to Georgia Ian Kelly and U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson, Chairman of the Helsinki Commission.
