The Kutaisi International Short Film Festival, which promotes arthouse cinema while facilitating cultural and social exchange, held a screening of Pedro Almodovar‘s debut film, ‘Pepi, Luci, Bom, And Other Girls Like Mom,’ recognized for its bold portrayal on social issues and sexuality post-Franco Spain.
The event was highlighted by the presence and speech of Eva Siva, a leading actress in the film, who discussed the social and politic environment of 1980s Spain and shared details of the behind-the scenes process of the movie.
Siva’s personal insight provided the audience with an broader context for the film’s impact on feminism, LGBTQ+ rights and other issues that are still relevant to this day.
