Uncertainty sets in as Russia continues to advance in Ukraine, and the resolve of Ukraine’s Western allies appears to be waning to support President Zelenskyy’s goal of a Russian victory over Ukraine.

Zagorodnyuk, despite the fact that the victory plan is classified and not public, claims to have deduced its military strategy and declares it to be realistic. Now, the ball is in Ukraine’s court.

Who is winning the ?
EP: In , you wrote, “Ukraine may not be winning the battle, but Russia’s gains are insignificant, despite enormous losses in ammunition and equipment, as well as personnel.” Do you still believe this, given that Russia has gained ground in despite Ukraine’s difficult situation?
AZ: This is my position. I don’t believe that Russia is winning anything. Yes, they are advancing but we must understand the larger situation.
Let’s zoom out.
Russia is still a formidable force. Despite losing more than 600,000 soldiers and a vast amount of equipment and resources it is still one of the largest armies in the world. It’s in the top five for both and size. It consumes at least 40 percent of the Russian budget. However, it’s hard to calculate exact numbers because many military expenses are hidden under different budget categories.
The Russians have thrown everything into this war.
