**Scottish Combat Medic Killed in Ukraine**
A 26-year-old Scottish man, Jordan Maclachlan, has been killed on the front line in Ukraine. He was a volunteer and combat medic who had traveled to Ukraine to help with the conflict.
Maclachlan’s family said he “always believed that he was making a difference” and they are proud of his efforts to help others. They are waiting for further details from the British government, which is supporting them.
Maclachlan is not the only British volunteer who has been killed in Ukraine. In November, another young man, Callum Tindal-Draper, died in combat while serving with Ukraine’s foreign volunteer platoon.
**Russia and Ukraine**
There are ongoing conflicts between Russia and Ukraine, with both sides suffering losses. A Ukrainian military spokesperson said that small Russian units were attempting to advance around the town of Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast, but the town itself was not under threat at this time.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that 28 Shahed-type attack drones and unidentified dummy drones launched by Russia overnight had been shot down, with 10 lost in the airspace. President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine “continues to maintain a buffer zone on Russian territory” and was actively destroying Russian military potential.

Ukraine is also involved in negotiations with other countries about its relations. The U.K-led Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) has set up a tracking system to alert allies if a ship poses a threat to undersea cable infrastructure, following reports of Russia’s shadow fleet of tankers.
Ukrainian Envoy to the EU met with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto to discuss issues including electricity exports and support for Ukrainian refugees.
