Farmers Protest in Serbia
Farmers in Loznica and the village of Badovinci blocked a bridge to protest. They were met by police, but there was no trouble.
The farmers are unhappy because their demands have not been met. They want Prime Minister Milos Vucevic and two other important officials to lose their jobs.
The Ministry of Agriculture said that the farmers had missed a meeting scheduled for Sunday. But the farmers say their demands still haven’t been met. Milan Pajic, one of the leaders, said they will keep taking action until their demands are fulfilled.
Pajic also said that the authorities should not try to stop them. He added that if Minister Aleksandar Martinovic had joined their protest, he would have seen why they are unhappy.
On Sunday, a new road was opened in the area. The farmers’ association complained that police were stopping people from traveling from Loznica to Sabac, but allowed people to travel in the opposite direction. Prime Minister Vucevic attended the opening of the road.
