**Slovak Prime Minister May Meet with Ukrainian President**
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico may meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the “next few days,” he said on January 16.
Fico made the comment when asked about a potential meeting with Zelensky. He did not say where the meeting would take place.
This comes after Ukraine stopped allowing Russian gas to be transported through its territory, starting from January 1. Ukraine had previously warned that it would not extend the agreement in order to stop financing Russia‘s full-scale war.
Fico and his Hungarian counterpart Viktor Orban have been against this decision. They have maintained friendly ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin, despite Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
**Russia Attacks Ukraine**
On January 15, Russia attacked Ukraine using cruise and ballistic missiles, targeting critical infrastructure in several oblasts.
The 67th Separate Mechanized Brigade repelled an assault by Russian troops near the village of Zhuravka in Sumy Oblast. The brigade also shot down a Russian experimental reconnaissance drone.

Advisers to US President-elect Donald Trump are developing a comprehensive sanctions strategy aimed at facilitating a diplomatic resolution to the Russia-Ukraine war.
