**Ukraine Has Enough Arms to Resist Russia**
Ukraine’s Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko says the country has enough money and ammunition to resist Russian aggression for at least the first half of 2025. This is even if the United States stops sending aid.
Marchenko made these comments in an interview with El Pais newspaper. He said Ukraine has been allocating funds from its budget to buy equipment, and continues to receive arms from the US.
**Enough Money and Arms**
Ukraine has received over $60 billion in military aid from the US since the start of the war. The Biden administration recently announced a new arms package worth almost $1 billion. Marchenko believes that with these funds, Ukraine will be able to resist Russian aggression for at least six months.
**Concerns About Trump’s Aid**
However, there are concerns that President-elect Donald Trump might stop sending aid to Ukraine after he takes office in January. Trump has said that he plans to reduce US assistance to Kyiv.
Marchenko described this as a “challenge” and said it is in Ukraine’s interest to build good relationships with the new administration.
**Meeting Between Zelensky and Trump**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met Trump in Paris on December 7. They discussed security guarantees, but did not talk about any concrete peace plan.
**Marchenko’s Views on NATO Membership**
Marchenko believes that full NATO membership is the best way to prevent Russian aggression, and has said that Ukraine should be allowed to join the alliance as soon as possible.
