Sources claim that Turkish customs authorities have modified their system to prevent the export of over 40 categories military-related items to Russia.
The Financial Times, citing anonymous sources familiar with this matter, reports that Turkiye has implemented covert restrictions regarding the export of US military equipment to Russia.
According to FT data, Turkiye had significant trade relations with Russia prior to these restrictions. Turkish exports of military technologies to Russia jumped from $3 million per month to $38 millions per month after the invasion of Ukraine.
This trade flow allowed Russia acquire critical components for weapons used against Ukraine. Especially electronic components for drones and missiles. It undermined international sanctions aimed to limit Russia’s military capability.
