We are here to help you on the road to democracy and Europe – the chairman of the Defense Committee of the Finnish parliament, Jukka, said in his speech during the protest rally held in Tbilisi.
According to him Georgians are known for their good history of protests. Therefore, he believes that everything should be done to bring democracy to this country.
“Democracy requires free and fair elections. Democracy needs people. And I see many people in this place. Why did I come to Tbilisi from Finland? This is not my first trip to Tbilisi. I first visited Tbilisi in 1978 when I was a child. It was under Soviet rule. I came here with my family and there were protests. In 1978, Georgians demonstrated against the Soviet Language Law. The Soviet government was forced to withdraw it from implementation in 1978. Georgians have a long history of protests. You have all the tools to bring democracy to your country. We are here to help you on your path to democracy and Europe. We are Europe. You are Europe. We are all Europe. Never give up, believe yourself, believe free and fair elections and believe in freedom, and freedom will win. Democracy will come to Georgia”, Jukka Kopra said.
