Fire in Moscow Warehouse Sparks Concerns
A major fire broke out at a freon warehouse in southern Moscow, covering an area of 2,500 square meters. Russian authorities have classified the fire as highly complex.
The blaze is located in an industrial zone on Promyshlennaya Street. Reports indicate that there has been a partial roof collapse and explosions, possibly caused by detonating freon cylinders. A helicopter was expected to be deployed to extinguish the fire.
Details of the incident are still emerging. However, it’s worth noting that there has been an increase in fires and explosions at production facilities across Russia since the beginning of the war with Ukraine in 2022. These incidents have targeted critical infrastructure, including military production sites and energy facilities.
The cause of the blaze remains unknown. Efforts to contain the fire involved 75 personnel, 31 units of equipment, and a helicopter. The fire had spread to 3,000 square meters at one point, according to reports from the Telegram channel Nexta.
This incident is the latest in a series of concerns for Moscow, which recently faced its largest-ever drone assault. Russian officials reported intercepting around 30 drones over the capital.
