**Fire Reported in Kazan, Russia Amid Ukrainian Drone Attack**
A fire broke out in the city of Kazan in Russia’s Tatarstan republic overnight on January 20. The fire occurred after a Ukrainian drone attack on the city, according to Russian Telegram channels.
Videos posted by residents show a large fire burning in the Aviastroitelny district of Kazan. This area is home to an aviation college and several aviation factories. The Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviatsiya, has suspended flights at Kazan International Airport due to the attack.
Reports indicate that multiple explosions were heard in the city around 5:30 a.m. local time. However, it’s unclear what caused these explosions. Preliminary reports suggest they may have been related to the drone attack.
**Kazan Not Directly Near Ukraine**
Kazan is located over 900 kilometers east of the Ukrainian border, in Russia’s Tatarstan republic. This region has previously been targeted by Ukrainian drone strikes. In recent attacks, Ukrainian forces have hit oil refineries and depots in Russia to disrupt their military supply chain.
