Regional authorities reported on Nov. 2 that Russian attacks against Ukraine had killed five people, and injured 68 more in the past day.
The reported that Ukrainian forces shot down 39 of the 71 drones launched overnight by Russia, including those of the Shahed type and others unidentified. The Air Force added that 21 drones were “lost” and five more flew towards Russia.
Local authorities reported that debris from drones that were downed damaged residential buildings in Kyiv and an office building during a two-hour attack.
Overnight, reportedly also fired a Kh 31P cruise missile at Ukraine.
Two S-400 missiles killed Andrii Matvienko, a police officer in Kharkiv. According to the Interior Ministry, 36 police officers, 9 civilians and 1 rescuer were injured.
Local authorities reported that the strikes caused damage to 20 residential buildings as well as heating, water supply and 19 vehicles.
According to Oleh Simiehubov, Russian forces also attacked and damaged a five-story building in the town Kupiansk, Kharkiv Oblast. A 44-year-old and two women aged 75 and 68 were injured.
A Russian drone also struck a residential building located in the city Sumy. Local authorities reported that at least eight people were injured.
Vadym Fillashkin, the governor of Donetsk Oblast said that four people were killed at the settlements Sukhi Yaly and Yuriivka, as well as Chasiv Yar. In the region, four more people have been injured over the last day.
In Kherson Oblast Russian forces targeted 15 settlements including the regional centre of Kherson. Seven people were injured, Governor Oleksandr Prokudin reported.
Kyiv City military administration said that all drones that were threatening the city had been neutralized, without specifying how many drones were shot down.
“Active hostilities which continue in certain regions require constant renewal of resources of Ukrainian units,” Commander in Chief Oleksandr Sryskyi said.
According to Ukraine’s intelligence services, North Korean soldiers were equipped with 60-mm mortars and AK-12 rifles. They also received machine guns, sniper weapons, Feniks guided anti-tank missiles, as well as hand-held antitank grenade launches.
