Ukraine Needs Military Equipment, Not Just Soldiers
Ukraine is asking its international friends to send more military equipment quickly. They think this is more important than getting more people to join the army.
The country has a problem with not having enough soldiers in some areas. To fix this, Ukraine’s foreign ministry wants to get quicker and better aid from its partners. This will help the soldiers they already have.
“We need more equipment to arm all the people we’ve already called up,” said Heorhii Tykhyi, a spokesperson for Ukraine’s foreign ministry. “We think sending faster military aid should be our top priority.”
Tykhyi spoke at a press conference in Kyiv on November 28. He said that Ukraine regularly talks to its international partners about many issues, including defense strategy and how to deal with Russia.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky also talked about this issue during a speech to the parliament on November 19. He presented a plan to make the country stronger from within.
Zelensky did not agree to lower the age of people who can join the army, even though many citizens and some Western partners asked him to do so. Instead, he proposed some changes, such as creating a new system for managing the military and making sure that soldiers are well taken care of.
