**Former Minister Questioned Over Railway Rebuilding**
Zorana Mihajlovic, a former minister in the Serbian cabinet, has been questioned by police investigating corruption in rebuilding the Belgrade-Budapest railroad.
Mihajlovic held several key posts, including Transport and Infrastructure Minister. Her ministry oversaw a major project to rebuild a railway station in Novi Sad. Tragically, 16 people died when a concrete canopy collapsed at the site on November 1.
The Public Prosecution for Organized Crime ordered Mihajlovic’s interrogation. A source close to the investigation said she was questioned about signing a huge commercial contract worth €943 million to rebuild part of the railroad between Novi Sad and Subotica while she was still minister.
A commission investigating the railway station tragedy had recommended that Mihajlovic be questioned as part of their probe.
