Former NATO Secretary General Warns Trump About Ukraine.
Anders Rasmussen, the former head of NATO, is advising US President–elect Donald Trump not to let Ukraine become “his Afghanistan”.
Rasmussen thinks that if Trump pushes for a quick cease-fire in the war between Russia and Ukraine, it would help Russia. He believes this would allow Russia to keep control over areas it has taken from Ukraine.
Many people think that supporting Ukraine’s military efforts is important to stop Russia from winning. The current head of NATO, Mark Rutte, and the chair of the Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, agree with Rasmussen on this point.
In an interview, Rasmussen said: “Don’t let Putin defeat you.” He wants Trump to be a strong leader and not give in to Russia’s demands.
