Donald Trump claimed that he warned Vladimir Putin about the severe consequences of invading Ukraine during a meeting with Wall Street Journal‘s Editorial Board.
The Wall Street Journal reports former President Donald Trump claiming he warned Russian president Vladimir Putin of severe consequence if Russia invaded Ukraine.
Trump told the Journal’s Editorial Board that he had told Putin, “Vladimir if you go to Ukraine, I will hit you so hard you won’t believe it.” I’m going right in the middle fricking Moscow.”
According to the Journal’s report, Trump elaborated about his alleged conversation between himself and Putin: “I told him, ‘We are friends.’ I don’t like it, but I can’t avoid it. He says, “No way.” I replied, “Way.” I told him, “You’re going be hit so hard and I’m gonna take those f— domes off your head. ‘”
The former president made his comments during a 90 minute meeting at the Journal offices in New York, where he discussed topics such as foreign policy, immigration and his criticisms against the newspaper.
Bob Woodward, editor of the Washington Post, wrote in his book “War” about Trump’s alleged discussions with Putin after 2021. He cited a source close enough to the former president.
Unnamed Trump aides quoted in the book said that the former president spoke with Putin up to seven times after Trump left his White House in 2021.
Trump refused to confirm information about phone conversations with Vladimir Putin once he left the White House.
Donald Trump refused to say whether he wanted Ukraine to win the conflict and described Zelensky, a “salesman,” who “shouldn’t have allowed that war to start.”
Trump also blamed Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Joe Biden for the fact that Russia invaded Ukraine in full scale.
Donald Trump and President Zelenskyy met in late September.
