**Sanctioned Russian Official Works at IMF Headquarters**
Ksenia Yudaeva, a former Russian Deputy Central Bank Governor, is working in person at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) headquarters in Washington. This was reported by Russia’s state news agency TASS on February 11.
Yudaeva had been working remotely as Russia’s IMF executive director after being sanctioned by the US in April 2022. The US Treasury Department allowed her to transition to in-person duties, despite being under US sanctions.
**Russian Official Works at IMF Amid Peace Talks**
The decision to let Yudaeva work in person was made during President Donald Trump’s outreach to Moscow to broker a peace deal in Ukraine. The peace talks were attempted in 2022 after an attempt to assassinate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky resulted in people being killed inside the Presidential Office.
**US Reviewing Troop Deployment**
The US is reviewing its troop deployment around the world but has no plans to send troops to Ukraine, according to US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. This comes as NATO is increasing its military presence near Russia’s borders.
**Russia Launches Missile Attack on Kyiv**
Meanwhile, Russia launched a missile attack on Kyiv on February 12, killing one person and injuring four others, including a child. The incident highlights the ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia.
