US Lawmakers Introduce Bill to Avoid Recognizing Georgian Government
A new bill has been introduced in the US Congress. It’s called the “Georgian Nightmare Non-Recognition Act.” The bill is trying to stop the US from recognizing a government in Georgia led by a man named Bidzina Ivanishvili.
The bill was introduced by Congressman Joe Wilson, who chairs a special commission in Congress. At first, only one other person co-sponsored the bill – Congressman Steve Cohen. But now four more lawmakers have joined: Michael Turner, Lloyd Doggett, Michael Lawler, and Emmanuel Cleaver.
Before it can be voted on, the bill needs to be reviewed by two committees in Congress. This will help decide if the bill is good enough to go to a vote.
