**University Professors to Hold Protest**
University professors will organize a protest on Monday in four Serbian cities. The protests will take place in Nis, Belgrade, Kragujevac, and Novi Sad at 7 pm.
The protest is called “Defend the Academic Community.” It aims to show that students and professors are united in defending knowledge, people, and the future. The organizers say that violence against students has been increasing, and some deans have been threatened or attacked.
One of the reasons for the protest is an attack on Natalija Jovanovic, a dean at Nis University. She was stabbed with a knife by a woman on Sunday. Dean Jovanovic blamed President Aleksandar Vucic for the incident, saying he had called her a “criminal” just three days earlier.
The protest organizers say that freedom of speech and critical thinking are under threat in Serbia. They want to show that the academic community is not afraid to speak out against violence and intimidation.
