**Trump Aims to End Ukraine War within 100 Days**
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump wants to stop Russia‘s war against Ukraine within three months of his inauguration, according to his special peace envoy Keith Kellogg.
Kellogg told Fox News on January 8 that Trump plans to negotiate a peaceful end to the war soon after taking office. The goal is to have a solution within 100 days.
“This is a war that needs to end, and I think he can do it in the near term,” said Kellogg.
**Trump’s Plan**
Kellogg believes that Trump will work with Russian President Vladimir Putin to find a resolution satisfactory to both leaders. He praised Trump for his willingness to meet with Putin and contrasted this approach with former U.S. President Joe Biden, who refused to engage with Putin.
“Biden’s biggest mistake was not trying to negotiate with Putin,” said Kellogg.
**Ukraine’s Situation**
The war between Russia and Ukraine has been ongoing for several years. Ukraine has accused Russia of invading its territory, while Russia claims it is protecting Russian-speaking Ukrainians.
In recent days, there have been reports of increased fighting in eastern Ukraine, particularly around the city of Kurakhove.
**International Response**
Poland closed its consulate building in St. Petersburg after 53 years following accusations of sabotage plots by Moscow. A fleet of up to 10 NATO vessels will guard infrastructure under the Baltic Sea until April.
**Trump’s Call for Increased Defense Spending**
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has called on NATO countries to increase their defense spending, citing a goal of 5% of GDP as opposed to the current benchmark of 2%.
