**French Photojournalist Denied Entry into Georgia**
Jérôme Chobeaux, a French photojournalist, was not allowed to enter Georgia on March 31. He had been covering protests in the country‘s capital, Tbilisi.
Chobeaux posted about his experience on Instagram, saying he couldn’t get past airport security and had to go back on his plane. His feed has many photos of Georgian police detaining activists and opposition leaders.
**Condemnation from Reporters Without Borders**
Reporters Without Borders (RSF) criticized the decision to deny Chobeaux entry into Georgia. The organization said he was detained and denied his rights without explanation, and that this is likely due to his work covering the protests.
The RSF asked Georgian authorities to explain themselves and stop harassing journalists. However, so far, there has been no comment from the authorities on why Chobeaux was not allowed in.
**Pattern of Denials**
This incident follows a pattern of similar denials of entry into Georgia. Activists, human rights defenders, journalists, and politicians have reportedly been banned from entering the country for what many see as political reasons.
One example is Regina Jegorova-Askerova, a Lithuanian human rights defender who was recently denied entry to Georgia.
