Russian Commanders Falsely Claimed Victory in Kursk Region
Reports from Russian low-level commanders have been false, leading to the encirclement of two Russian units near Malaya Lokhnya. The commanders claimed that four strategic villages had been captured, but this was not true.
The situation is dire for the Russians. Two separate pockets of their troops remain besieged in the Kursk region after previous failed attempts by the main Russian forces to break them out. To make matters worse, it has been revealed that field commanders lied about the success of their assaults on Malaya Lokhnya and frontline changes.
This false narrative led to a lack of awareness about the situation on the ground. The Russians did not control the villages they claimed to have taken. Instead, Russian soldiers were left encircled with no chance to break out.
Russian commanders ordered repeated waves of assaults to salvage the situation, but these attempts were not communicated to higher command and failed to secure necessary support. This led to further losses and depleting reserves created for the counteroffensive operation.
This approach is common among Russian low-level commanders who often report premature success. However, in this case, there was no real advancement by Russian forces. The initial assault forces were running out of supplies and at risk of being destroyed.
Due to unawareness of unreported losses, Russian higher-ups expected the low-level commanders to launch assaults directly against Malaya Lokhnya, assuming positions had been captured. However, this was not feasible due to lack of reserves and no forces stationed in supposedly secured territories.
The failure to capture ground has led to the destruction of half of the encircled troops in one of two pockets near Malaya Lokhnya.
Despite heavy losses, Russian command is gathering elite marines and paratroopers to expand assaults in all areas of Kursk. However, forces in the Malaya Lokhnya-Pogrebki axis are operating from ground zero after disastrous results of failed attacks.
