**Tactical Chess Match Unfolds Near Velyka Novosilka**
Two key roads near Velyka Novosilka have become the focal point of a tactical battle between Russian and Ukrainian forces. The Russians are trying to gain control over these roads, while the Ukrainians are determined to defend them.
**Russian Advances Meet with Resistance**
On November 27, there were several updates from the Velyka Novosilka direction. The Russians launched a series of massive assaults aimed at encircling the town and breaking through Ukrainian defenses. However, their overextended logistics and vulnerable supply lines have left them exposed to precise Ukrainian counterattacks.
**Russian Forces Advance on Rozdolne**
Earlier, Russian forces had advanced toward Rozdolne, north of Velyka Novosilka, securing positions on its southeastern outskirts after intense mechanized assaults. This success encouraged the Russians to plan further offensives and gain control over key roads leading to the town.
**Ukrainian Forces Repositioned**
The redeployment of Ukrainian forces from Velyka Novosilka to Kurakhove has motivated the Russians to intensify their operations there. However, despite this redistribution, the Ukrainian forces remaining in Velyka Novosilka have maintained key tactical advantages over the advancing Russian troops.
**Russian Forces Exposed in Open Fields**
To deploy their forces to the frontline, Russian troops must traverse long distances through open fields, exposing them to Ukrainian drone operators and artillery. This has allowed the Ukrainians to target Russian columns with precision strikes, immobilizing and destroying their vehicles.
**Ukrainian Tactics Prove Effective**
Combat footage shows a Ukrainian strike on a Russian column of six vehicles preparing for an assault 15 kilometers from the front near Novomaiorske. Ukrainian tactics involve targeting the lead vehicle to immobilize the column, then striking the trapped vehicles with artillery, forcing the crews to abandon them.
**Russian Forces Struggle to Adapt**
The exposure in open fields poses significant challenges not only for Russian assault units but also for their rear-echelon forces. Ukrainian strikes have successfully targeted Russian artillery and rocket systems, even in deep rear positions, suppressing Russian fire support and preventing them from effectively softening Ukrainian defenses.
