**Russian Counter-Offensive Hits Snags**
The 810th Naval Infantry Brigade‘s river crossing attempt was a disaster, with both banks littered with destroyed vehicles and casualties, according to released footage.
On November 16, the Russians launched their third wave of counter-offensive in Kursk. Despite this, their tactics remained unchanged, leading to many Russian Marines finding a watery grave.
The Russians’ goal was to penetrate Ukrainian defenses using a pincer maneuver and take control of the northern front. They decided to assault Novoivanivka head-on from the East while launching a flanking attack from the south.
However, Ukrainians were prepared and held an all-around defense in the settlement. The Russian flanking attacks were exposed to more Ukrainian fire as they tried to cross the river. Many Russian vehicles hit landmines and caught fire.
**Russian Forces Continue to Suffer**
The Russians’ plan of attack was discovered by Ukrainians, but instead of changing their tactics, Russian commanders ordered five more waves of mechanized assaults in the same way. These attacks ended even worse for Russian forces.
Ukrainian soldiers continued to share geolocated footage of them repulsing Russian frontal and flanking assaults, showing many burning Russian armored personnel carriers failing to cross the river.
**Aftermath of the River Crossing**
Released footage shows the aftermath of the Russian assault at the river crossing. The river banks were littered with dead Russian soldiers and destroyed armored vehicles.
Ukrainian soldiers in the region stated that Russian forces’ activity in the Kursk direction remains steady, but they regularly deploy armored vehicles along their main attack vectors, which are destroyed before achieving any significant breakthrough.
**Stable Defenses**
Despite coming under near-constant Russian assault, Ukrainian units have described their defensive situation as stable. Ukrainian soldiers remain well-rested and can leverage their superior training and equipment to achieve tactical victories on the battlefield.
As Russian losses rapidly mount and their progress stalls, Russians quickly deplete their more elite assault units, further diminishing their prospects of breaking through Ukrainian lines.
