**G7 Countries Make Sanctions a Condition for Russia**
The Group of Seven (G7) countries have agreed to link any new sanctions against Russia to the progress of peace negotiations with Ukraine. This decision was made during a meeting on February 15.
The G7 ministers met at the Munich Security Conference, which took place from February 14 to 16. The conference brought together foreign ministers from around the world to discuss global security issues.
**New Sanctions Will Depend on Russia’s Actions**
In a statement, the G7 emphasized that any new sanctions after February 2025 should depend on whether Russia makes “real, good faith efforts” to end its war against Ukraine. This means that if Russia does not work towards peace with Ukraine, there will be no new sanctions.
The group also reaffirmed their support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. They have been providing military and financial aid to Ukraine since the start of Russia’s invasion.
**G7 Countries Support Ukraine**
Since 2022, the G7 countries have provided significant support to Ukraine. In October 2024, they reached an agreement to provide Ukraine with approximately $50 billion in loans backed by foreign Russian assets. This shows their commitment to supporting Ukraine during this difficult time.
