G7 Leaders Reaffirm Support for Ukraine
Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) have promised to keep supporting Ukraine until the conflict ends. On November 16, they released a statement saying they will impose severe costs on Russia through sanctions and other measures.
The G7 leaders said that Russia is the main obstacle to peace in Ukraine. They also reaffirmed their commitment to giving Ukraine money to help with its economy, defense, and rebuilding efforts.
Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni led the effort to release this statement. She mentioned that this comes as Ukraine prepares for its war to last 1,000 days.
In October, the G7 agreed to give Ukraine $50 billion in loans. The money will be made from Russian assets abroad. This will help fund Ukraine’s needs during and after the conflict.
