**Opposition Leader Says Attack Had “Smell of Revenge”**
Giorgi Gakharia, leader of the opposition party For Georgia, said that his attack on January 15 had a premeditated “political revenge” smell. He claimed that the attack was ordered and authored by Bidzina Ivanishvili.
Gakharia made these comments during a briefing where he accused Ivanishvili of being behind the attack. He stated that Ivanishvili has been threatening him and his family for a long time, including publicly.
**Focusing on the “Mastermind”**
Gakharia said he was not focusing on the perpetrators of the attack, but rather on the person who ordered it – Bidzina Ivanishvili. He described Ivanishvili as “the main architect of violence” and “the main root of evil” in Georgia today.
**Investigation Doubts**
Gakharia expressed doubts about the official investigation into the case. He claimed that the attack was videotaped by an individual, but the footage ended up in the hands of pro-government media. He also stated that the management of the Sheraton Batumi hotel was pressured to destroy its CCTV footage.
**”I Will Do Whatever It Takes”**
At the end of the briefing, Gakharia vowed to ensure that Ivanishvili loses what he values most – money and power. He promised to do whatever it takes to achieve this goal.
