People in Gaza are anxiously waiting for temporary ceasefire deal to take effect Sunday. The agreement was finalized by Israel’s cabinet on Friday.

A colleague of Dr Shabir’s was killed on Thursday, just hours after the ceasefire agreement was announced. Hala Abu Ahmed, a 27-year-old specialist in internal medicine, had worked tirelessly for 15 months since the war began.

Many people in Gaza are waiting to return home after being displaced for months. Sabreen Doshan, 45, said that her house is completely destroyed and she has lost 17 of her family since the war started.

The destruction in Gaza is immense. The United Nations Satellite Centre reported that 69% of all and 68% of roads have been damaged or destroyed. About 46,700 people have been killed, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
