**Gazprom Prepares for No Gas Flow to Europe via Ukraine**
Russia’s state-controlled gas company, Gazprom, is planning for a scenario where no natural gas will flow through Ukraine after December 31, 2024. This is according to a source familiar with the plans.
Ukraine has said it won’t extend its transit deal, which has been in place for over 50 years. The deal allows Russian gas to be transported from Siberia to central Europe. Russia earns up to $1 billion annually in transit fees through Ukraine.
**Russia’s Gas Exports May Drop by 20%**
Gazprom expects Russian gas exports to Europe and Turkey to decline by 20% in 2025, due to the loss of the Ukrainian route. The company’s internal planning assumes no Ukrainian transit next year. This means exports are projected to drop to just under 39 billion cubic meters (bcm) from more than 49 bcm expected this year.
**Turkish Supplies May Increase**
However, Turkish supplies via the TurkStream and Blue Stream pipelines are not expected to decline. The Power of Siberia pipeline, which transports gas to China, is forecast to reach 38 bcm in 2025.
