**Georgian Dream Party Proposes Changes to Parliament’s Rules**
The Georgian Dream (GD) party has proposed changes to the rules governing the activities of temporary investigative commissions in parliament. The amendments, initiated by GD MPs, aim to give more power to these commissions.
**What Are the Proposed Changes?**
* The commission will be able to request an investigation at any stage of its work.
* Only one member of the commission is required to question individuals who want to provide information.
* Meetings can be held on days when parliament is in session, but not during ongoing sessions.
* The commission can investigate and raise administrative or disciplinary proceedings if it has “reasonable suspicion” of illegal activity.
**Who Supports the Changes?**
The proposed changes are backed by GD MPs Shalva Papuashvili, Davit Matikashvili, Giorgi Kakhiani, Irakli Shatakishvili, Greta Tsitsava, and Guram Macharashvili.
**What Is the Investigative Commission?**
The commission is headed by former Minister of Justice Tea Tsulukiani and aims to review the actions of the previous United National Movement (UNM) government. Some MPs have expressed concerns about the commission’s activities and refused to cooperate with it.
