**Georgian Cabinet Gets a Makeover**
On April 2, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced changes to the government. The most significant change is the creation of a new ministry: Ministry of Regional Development.
**Changes and Appointments**
Grigol Lilushvili will lead the new ministry. He has been in charge of Georgia’s State Security Service (SSSG) since 2019. Lilushvili will leave his post at SSSG, which will be taken over by Anri Okhanashvili.
Irakli Karseladze will stay as head of the Ministry of Infrastructure. Paata Salia will replace Irakli Karseladze as Minister of Justice.
**Reactions from Opposition**
The opposition party Gakharia for Georgia thinks that the State Security Service is being disguised under a new name, and Grigol Lilushvili remains in charge. They believe this move aims to help the ruling party gain more control over regions ahead of local elections.
Former Defense Minister Tinatin Khidasheli also agrees with the opposition’s assessment, saying the Georgian Dream is creating a “Ministry of Elections” under the guise of Regional Development. She suggests that Bidzina Ivanishvili is giving Irakli Kobakhidze more power over the system and its responsibilities.
