**Georgian PM Visits Kazakhstan**
The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, has visited Kazakhstan. He was accompanied by a delegation of ministers and government officials.
**Economic Ties Strengthened**
During his visit, Mr. Kobakhidze met with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and the country‘s Prime Minister, Olzhas Bektenov. They discussed ways to strengthen economic ties between the two countries. The talks focused on increasing trade volumes and promoting the development of the Middle Corridor.
**Middle Corridor Project**
The Georgian PM emphasized that his visit was not only about strengthening bilateral relations but also about restoring Georgia’s “historical function” as a connector of different regions. He noted that Georgia has the opportunity to become a link between Europe, the Middle East, and South Asia.
**Kazakhstan’s Interest in Georgia**
Mr. Bektenov expressed Kazakhstan’s interest in deepening cooperation with Georgia in various areas, including tourism and investment. He also praised the 25% increase in bilateral trade last year compared to the same period the previous year.
**Regional Challenges Discussed**
The Georgian delegation met with President Tokayev on February 6. They discussed regional challenges and the importance of joint efforts to promote connectivity and the development of the Middle Corridor. Mr. Kobakhidze thanked President Tokayev for his support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
