**Ukraine Strikes Russian Military Facility**
The Ukrainian Air Force has struck a military facility in Russia’s western Oryol region. The General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces reported on Facebook that the facility was destroyed, making it harder for Russia to carry out airstrikes using kamikaze drones against Ukraine.
**Attack Details**
The attack took place on December 26 and targeted a Russian Defense Ministry facility between two villages in the Bolkhov district. Russian news outlet Astra claims that three British-built Storm Shadow missiles were used in the attack, killing two people and wounding seven. However, this information cannot be independently verified.
**Previous Attacks**
This is not the first time Ukraine has targeted facilities in Oryol region. On December 22, drones attacked an oil depot, setting it on fire. The same depot was attacked just a week earlier, causing a large fire to break out that lasted for several days.
**Ukraine’s Military Efforts**
Since November 20, Ukraine has intensified its strike campaign on Russian territory, targeting military and industrial facilities. Ukraine first deployed British-supplied Storm Shadow missiles and U.S.-made long-range ATACMS just one day apart.
**Casualties and Damage**
Russian forces suffered 1,690 casualties in the past day alone. Debris from an intercepted drone damaged a railway contact network in Russia’s Voronezh Oblast overnight on December 28.
**International Response**
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced that his government will evaluate potential measures against Ukraine if it stops transit of Russian gas to Slovakia after January 1. President Volodymyr Zelensky urged China to prevent North Korean soldiers from being deployed to the frontline.
