**Russia‘s Heavy Losses in Ukraine**
Since February 24, 2022, Russia has lost a staggering number of troops and equipment in Ukraine. According to the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Russia has suffered:
* 862,390 troop casualties
* 1,300 casualties just over the past day
* 10,120 tanks
* 21,098 armored fighting vehicles
* 37,825 vehicles and fuel tanks
* 23,347 artillery systems
* 1,288 multiple launch rocket systems
* 1,072 air defense systems
* 370 airplanes
* 331 helicopters
* 25,861 drones
* 28 ships and boats
* One submarine
**Ukraine’s Response**
In response to Russia’s aggression, Ukraine has taken steps to strengthen its ties with Europe. On February 19, Ukraine signed a memorandum of cooperation with Moldova to advance their efforts toward European Union integration.
**International Reactions**
The international community is also responding to the situation in Ukraine. France has announced that it will not send soldiers to the frontline in Ukraine. Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said that Canada wants to be part of conversations about protecting Ukraine, but there are no plans for Canadian troops to be deployed.
**Peace Negotiations**
There have been reports of a potential peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. However, President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed concerns that he was not invited to these negotiations. Russian President Vladimir Putin is still pushing for Ukraine’s occupation, while Trump claimed that Russia was prepared to end the conflict.
**EU Aid**
The European Union has announced plans to provide significant aid to Ukraine. A package of 1.5 million artillery shells, air defense systems, and equipment for military brigades is expected to be sent. The value of this aid could reach up to 10 billion euros ($10.8 billion).
