Russia has lost a huge number of troops and equipment since its invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Russia has lost:
* 725,740 soldiers
* Thousands of tanks, vehicles, and artillery systems
The exact numbers are staggering: 9,390 tanks, 19,119 armored fighting vehicles, and 29,648 vehicles and fuel tanks have been destroyed or captured by Ukraine’s forces. Artillery systems, multiple launch rocket systems, and air defense systems have also been lost.
Russia has also suffered significant losses in the air, with 369 airplanes, 329 helicopters, and 19,202 drones destroyed or taken out of commission. The Ukrainian Navy has also had success against Russia, sinking 28 ships and boats, including one submarine.
These numbers are according to a report by the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces on November 20, highlighting the heavy toll the war has taken on Russia’s military.
