**Opposition Parties in Georgia Want OSCE President to Condition Visit on Holding New Elections**
Three opposition parties in Georgia have written a joint letter to Pia Kauma, the President of the OSCE’s Parliamentary Assembly. They want her visit to be conditional on the government committing to new elections and releasing detained protesters.
The letter says that the Georgian Dream (GD) government is only focused on getting international recognition for its flawed election results from October 26. The opposition parties say this is an illegitimate government, with a one-party parliament and president.
**Separate Letter from Gakharia for Georgia**
A fourth opposition party, Gakharia for Georgia, has also written a separate letter to Pia Kauma. Their leader, Giorgi Kakharia, says that the OSCE President’s visit could have bad consequences for the people of Georgia fighting for democracy and a European future.
**European Criticism**
Some European politicians are also criticizing the planned visit. Richard Kohl, a Latvian MEP, called it “a disastrous and ill-timed move” on his X account. He says that such a visit would be a propaganda victory for the Georgian Dream government, and undermine the credibility of the OSCE.
Rasa Juknevičienė, a Lithuanian MEP, also spoke out against the visit. She said it would only help Bidzina Ivanishvili, who created the state capture scheme in Georgia.
