Georgia will lose EUR 121 Million in EU Aid due to democratic decline

Representatives of the Union Georgia, on behalf of the Directorate General Neighborhood Policy and of the European Commission, alerted that the country was set lose EUR 121. Million in aid because of its democratic decline. The remaining funds will be put on hold.
The report stated that the transfer of 2023-2024 monetary assistance has been suspended due to the reversal of democratic standards in Georgia. It placed special emphasis on the “Law on Transparency of Foreign ,” which undermines civil society and the freedom. In response, the allocated aid money – EUR 12 million in 2022, EUR 73 million in 2023, and EUR 37,3 million in 2024 – has been frozen.
